Pictures are Priceless (But GIFs are Better)

I took the first week off after the 0.7 release to recharge and do something else. One of those things was sketching some images for a potential adventure game.

Now wouldn’t it be nice if I could load those images somewhere to plan out my next move and write some notes for any ideas I have?

“But LINK doesn’t currently support images,” you might say.

And to that I’ll retort, “Until now!”

But add with a whisper, “Not now exactly… in the next update.”

Okay, so that was a pretty obvious setup but LINK can now display images!

Of course, that’s not all!

When adding the ability to resize notes containing images, it was trivial to get it to work for all notes.

Gone is the need to monkey around with the F5/Arrow Keys combination. Resizing automatically sets the wrap limit.

At the moment this change means notes are only capable of wrapping. To keep a long line from wrapping, make sure the note is wide enough to contain the line.

I may go back on this decision but being able to disable wrapping in a note would require additional UI support I haven’t added in yet. I could use the hotkey but that’s a hack I will avoid if possible.

Oh and besides dropping images onto the application window, it’s possible to add and modify images using the “image” command.

I do need to rethink how I plug my commands in so they’re easier to add but that’s a job for future me.

For now I think it’s better to just plug them in anywhere I see fit.

I’m sorry future me but, you’re welcome. I’m about to add a lot more examples to learn from.

Get LINK!
